TransAct Detector

The RipCode TransAct Detector provides the intelligence in a web application to accurately identify a variety of Internet-enabled devices including mobile handsets and other video-, audio- and data-rendering endpoints. Particularly applicable for the mobile market, TransAct Detector understands a mobile handset’s distinct capabilities to ensure delivery of the best user experience possible for that device. The TransAct Detector helps deliver device-optimized content via HTTP, progressive download or RTSP streaming to many of the most popular video-enabled phones including the Apple® iPhone™, T-Mobile G1™, RIM BlackBerry® Bold and BlackBerry® Storm.

Video and Image Detection

The TransAct Detector supports both video and image transcoding. When working in conjunction with video transcoding solutions, TransAct Detector detects the device and reports its attributes to the TransAct Commander, which then chooses the best resolution, bit rate, frame rate, or codec for that particular device. The client output is configurable and based on RipCode’s client attribute validation testing and database subscription solution.

TransAct Detector can also work with leading image transcode software and detect the best resolution for advertising and image transcoding for clients, handsets and devices. TransAct Detector is compliant with the Mobile Marketing Associations (MMA) specifications for image transcoding and can support up to 800 image requests per second.

Subscription Update Service

The TransAct Detector allows a web application to sensibly cope with a wide variety of handset devices and their diverse set of codecs, resolutions, and bitrates. The application also captures important analytics such as mobile handset geo-location and carrier network information in a separate database. Based on a powerful database structure, the TransAct Detector provides log data which can be used for reporting statistical trends, new clients, new features, or updated player installations.

RipCode offers a subscription service for the TransAct Detector database which provides monthly updates, keeping information current and accurate as new video-enabled endpoints are released in the market.

Available as a Standalone Application

The RipCode Client Detection Application is available as a complement to RipCode’s On-Demand Transcoding solution, or as a standalone application to augment a company’s existing image or video transcoding technology.
