IDC believes that transcoding must evolve to include transaction-based platforms that can tailor content and advertising for a particular device, delivery channel, business model and individual viewer – all on-the-fly – to accelerate, simplify, scale and cost-reduce video providers’ ability to fulfill the consumer mantra of ‘any content, any time, any place’.
The tremendous rise of Internet and mobile video consumption, continued growth of the content long tail, and the need for dozens of individual files for each piece of content suggests that the market is ripe for transcoding on-demand solutions.
